ABOUT WORSHIP

The Bible reveals to us the gospel (or good news) about what Jesus did to save sinners. It is the power God uses to work faith in our hearts and transform our lives. Therefore, Lutheran worship places the gospel in central focus! Through selected Scripture readings and the message, and with in carefully crafted songs, prayers, and creeds, we gather to proclaim the good news about Jesus from start to finish. We look forward to meeting you!

Many of the elements of this service have ancient roots in the Christian church, and others are very recent. Lutheran worship is designed to include the participation of the entire assembly (including children). Having our families together brings us joy and strengthens our community.

FAQ

Here are some answers to common questions.

Services typically last about an hour. Afterwards, there are light refreshments and opportunities to meet others and chat. Stay as long as you'd like!

We love having the whole family together, so we regularly include a Children's Message in the service and rejoice to hear the sounds of little ones with us. The back few rows are reserved for families with small children, and a nursery room is available if you need to use it. If you have any other questions or issues, we have ushers ready to assist you. Make yourself at home!

Instead of the pastor choosing topics to focus on, the good news of Jesus Christ is richly proclaimed as we focus on his saving works and his empowering words. God prepares our hearts for Jesus through Advent and we celebrate his coming at Christmas. During Epiphany, the spotlight on Jesus shines as he teaches, heals and calls all people to follow him. His path leads intentionally to the cross, so we consider during Lent the powerful evils like sin, Satan, death and hell that must be overcome for us sinners. We arrive at Holy Week ready to receive our humble King, who now goes to the cross to die for us and rose again in triumph! He helps us believe the splendors of the new and victorious life he gives before sending his Spirit to enlighten and empower us at Pentecost. What wonderful works to crown our lives with his love!

Through summer and fall, we review Jesus' words that shape and sharpen us as we grow in his grace and in living out lives that please and glorify him.
